Chris Good's Biography

Chris and Webster practice outside

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. I picked up the guitar at about age 12 and haven't put it down yet (my arms are getting heavy.)

I attended Michigan State University and studied girls and rock and roll. They eventually handed me a Bachelor's degree in English so that I would go away. A few years later I realized that such a degree did not bring prospective employers to my door, so I decided to attend graduate school. In 1992 I changed my life in a few important ways: I got married to a wonderful woman and the very next day we left Michigan for sunny skies in southern New Mexico, where I attended New Mexico State University and earned a Master's degree in Public Administration. We've been westerners since then. In 1998 we moved again, this time to Sparks, Nevada (right next to Reno.) I have a nice 8-5 job in the public sector and my wife trains dogs.

In college I played guitar and sang in a band called 11:55. After leaving them I spent a couple years not performing music, but I couldn't keep that up very long, so before leaving Michigan I'd written a handful of songs and performed a few times in coffeeshops and the like. By the time we got to New Mexico I had established that writing original songs and performing them on electric guitar was going to be a major hobby. I kept myself pretty busy in New Mexico, and now in the Reno area, playing in bars, coffeeshops, art galleries, anywhere they can stand to hear me.

For seven years I had the pleasure of running a biweekly open-mic night with Lee Dazey and Kim Elise. That ended in the fall of 2009 when Dreamers Coffeeshop closed. Since then I haven't performed much, but now that I have a new CD out that may change.

In 2000 I released a CD of original material called Capital Will Kill You.

In 2011 I released a second CD, A Good Year.
